You got the job! Now what? Your success and future in advancement is critical not only to you but also to your institution, so it’s important to arm yourself with the knowledge and connections to ensure a smooth transition to the field. The New Professionals Institute (Saturday, December 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Mayfair) is a great way to kick-off your CASE conference experience if you’re new to the world of university advancement. This day-long Institute features deep dive sessions and small group discussions.
Cost for this program is an additional fee of $125.
10:00 a.m.- Welcome and Activity: Start the day with a welcome from conference leaders and an interactive networking event to get to know other participants.
10:45 a.m.- What is Advancement Panel Discussion: Learn the Language of Advancement from industry experts. This panel conversation will give you highlights on each of the key functions within advancement (development, constituent engagement, marketing and communications) and show you the interconnectedness of these areas.
12:00 p.m.- Lunch Break: During lunch (which is provided) you will have another chance to network with your attendees and participate in an engaging activity to win prizes.
1:00 p.m.- Breakout Session 1: Following lunch you will get to hear from another conference leader who will lead a session on “how to work a room, not a corner.” This session has been one of the most popular sessions at previous conferences and it is being done just for you this year.
2:00 p.m.- Making the case for CASE: CASE Leadership members will join us to talk to you more about CASE and the value it can provide you as you begin your career within advancement.
2:30 p.m.- New Professionals Attendees Panel: Get a chance to hear from previous New Professionals Session attendees who will share what it is like 12-60 months later. They will share insights they have learned and will answer questions you might have during this panel discussion.
3:30 p.m.- Breakout Session 2: This session will help you plan the next 365 days and how you can start to put all you have learned into practice. It will pay close attention to how to continue to develop your network, leverage professional development, and continue to grow and enhance your advancement knowledge.
4:15 p.m.- How to Conquer the Conference: Before wrapping for the day conference leadership will help make sure you have all the tools to successfully take advantage of all the conference has to offer.
5:00 – 7:00 p.m.- New Professionals Reception: End the day with a casual reception for all attendees and the CASE District V Board and Conference Planning Committee members. A great way to continue to network and meet the leaders who are making things happen in the district.
Evening- (Optional): We will help arrange for some small group dinners to anyone who is interested. These are optional, but another way for you all to continue to get to know each other AND a great way to go explore Chicago.
